Content of the study

In response to the extensive changes in the construction industry caused by COVID-19, S&B Strategy has compiled a brief study on the challenges and solutions for the window industry over the next 10 years. The trends of digitalisation, COVID-19 and ‘EU Green Recovery’ were examined for their impact on the window industry in order to formulate solutions for companies along the value chain.

The window industry was already undergoing a consolidation process before the pandemic, driven by increasing complexity in the value chain and rising price pressure. COVID-19 is now further accelerating this process of change. Over the next decade, the entire value chain in the window industry will undergo massive change: Digital processes and the digital building envelope will become standard, consolidation will be massively accelerated and sales and logistics concepts will change fundamentally.

In addition, planners and installers increasingly need service concepts that enable them to save time and money. The economic impact of COVID-19 will also lead to an increase in insolvencies and consolidation in the European competitive landscape.
