The construction industry is in a constant state of flux, and the entire value chain exhibits a historically high level of innovation – the digitized building envelope of today can no longer be compared with that of 20 or even 50 years ago. Nevertheless, the essential building processes have not changed significantly in the last 200 years, driven by the high fragmentation of the construction industry.
Digitalisation is now changing this: planning, construction, logistics, product design, service, economic planning and much more are increasingly centralized by new digital business models, resulting in a disruption of traditional construction processes.
This transformation is driven by new as well as existing players and results in business models and distribution channels changing significantly or even forming new ones.
